Talks for Groups: daytime & evening

Broadly speaking, the short words are the best, and the old words best of all. Winston Churchill

Getting a Grip on Memory

A talk exploring the sense of touch, its importance in our lives, and its links to memory. Although it's one of the senses that develops earliest, it's the least investigated. We tend to think about delving into memories and reminiscing as something older people do, but in fact we do it throughout our lives, at all ages. When we add the chance to touch something that inspires a memory into the mix, reminiscing can be a very powerful and positive experience. This talk ends with a range of artefacts to explore and the chance to reminisce.

A Wander Without Wellies

Using a presentation of images and where possible, sounds, I’ll take you for a verbal walk along old routes in the UK, exploring their heritage and some of the flora and fauna living in our countryside. Can include nature table display of skulls, feathers, taxidermy to explore after - please ask for this when booking.

Up at the Big House

I grew up on The Glen Estate. Working on the housekeeping team at Glen House, the Scottish home of Lord & Lady Glenconner and depicted in TV’s The Crown, was my first job.

Hampshire: supporting farming through the ages

Do you know, Hampshire County Council's improvements for farming 130 years ago are still providing outcomes for residents today? This talk sheds light on their Victorian magic lantern lectures, residential farm school, and over 30 tenant farms still helping new farmers learn their trade.

Kind Words I go to a lot of talks across the South of England and yours was outstanding.  See more feedback on my talks here.

A talk about Glen House, its history, and my recollections of working there.
