Bespoke
Engaging people is at the core of my work, whether I'm developing a workshop for schools, writing exhibition text, leading reminiscence or creating social media content.
Engagement
Talks, Trails, Activities
I can help you develop meaningful engagement with your collections and stories, whether it's through guided tours or walks, activity trails or facilitated activity like handling opportunities.
Whatever the audience, I have experience of pitching messages and learning outcomes across ages and demographics.
Working in several lifelong learning roles has given me experience of drawing on a wide range of collections, from military vehicles to the natural world, in order to develop engaging activities and events.
Kind Words Whatever she turns her hand to is delivered professionally, efficiently and effectively. I would highly recommend her. Read more feedback here.
Interpretation
Need an interpretive plan, or to refine your messages? Looking for interpretive text? Or someone to edit or polish text? Want help thinking about interactives? I can help.
I've been on project teams developing touring exhibitions and permanent displays for a variety of audiences. I've worked on lots of text and I've developed or produced many low-tech interactives, as well as working with bespoke interactive makers.
Because I'm especially interested in interpretive text, I've been a Text Emergency Service more than once when a team was short-staffed or up against tight deadlines.
I've lectured on interpretation for postgraduate heritage students at Winchester and Bournemouth Universities.
Kind Words Ruth was able to refine and reposition our content to bring it back into focus and in a way that suited our audience. Read more feedback here.
Learning
I can develop discovery learning opportunities for any of your audiences, from pre-school to older learners. Whether you're looking for self-led learning or facilitated sessions, I can work with, or for you, to develop them.
Working with natural heritage, delivering Forest School, and being a Farm Discovery Co-ordinator for The Country Trust are all extensions of the discovery learning and interpretation I have been involved in for my 25+ years in museums and heritage.
Kind Words It was engaging, well-planned and all children thoroughly enjoyed it. Read more feedback from teachers here.
